The Vortex Amp works best with the truck bed fairly empty or with minor small items within the truck bed. Any kind of large item such as a large tool box mounted or set in the truck bed will impede the proper rotational air flow which creates the vortex. So unfortunately the Vortex Amp is not recommended for use with pickup trucks with large tool boxes as its effect will be limited with only minor improvement. A missing tailgate is a deal breaker, without it there can be no vortex formed that can be amplified. Vortex AMP cannot work with a missing tailgate.
